Financial Capability is about being able to manage your finances, to make good decisions with your money and to
avoid a financial crisis.
We started a
Financial
Capability
programme at
Oxford Citizens
Advice bureau in
2008 and have
provided
training to
various groups
in the City. Our
trainers are
happy to go out
to groups of 8
to 10 people in
Oxford City and
give talks. We
have a number of
topics to choose
from, each
lasting about an
hour, on Opening
a Bank Account,
Budgeting,
Choosing Credit,
Energy Best Deal
and Save Xmas.
If you would
like a trainer
to come to your
group please
email us:
financialcapability.oxcab@googlemail.com
We
have also been on
Radio Oxford
recently in their
Monday Money Club
series. Glynis
talked about
budgeting and
Michele took part
in the programme
on redundancy.
Another part of
our Financial
Capability
programme is aimed
at frontline
workers. By
educating
frontline workers
and making them
more aware of
issues they can
help their clients
avoid debt and
manage their
finances better.
If you would like
more details of
forthcoming
training for
frontline workers
please email us:

Members of the
public are
also catered
for in our
lunchtime
sessions at
the bureau for
special topics
such as Energy
Best Deal and
Save Xmas. If
you would like
to be added to
our mailing
list for
future
sessions
please email
us:
Volunteering
We
are looking to
expand our
Financial
Capability
programme by
taking on
volunteer
trainers, funded
by a generous
grant under the
Nationwide
programme. If you
would like to join
the team and learn
how to provide
training to
groups, frontline
workers and
members of the
public please
