Oxford CAB is a charity and has no long term guaranteed income. Traditionally
the local authority, in our case Oxford City Council, has provided
funding for the core advice services for those who live and work in
Oxford.
However, with restrictions on local and national government spending,
charities are now urged to diversify their income. We are no exception and the city
council now provides only 40% of our income.
The demand for advice has continuously
increased over recent years partly because of population growth but also as a result of the
increasing volume and complexity of legislation which directly affects more people than ever.
Our costs rise relentlessly. We must seek donations from those of our fellow Oxford citizens who
wish to help us maintain our reputation for good advice to those who need it. Without an
increase in income the bureau would need to find ways to cut back the service.
You can make donations which are either general purpose or restricted to certain groups in
which you have a special interest. We can help to arrange tax relief on Gift Aid donations
to charities as well as tax free bequests through wills.
